Child Protection & Safeguarding Policy

At Crystal Online School, the safety, well-being, and protection of our students are our absolute priorities. As a provider of online learning and academic tutoring for children globally, we hold a zero-tolerance policy towards any form of child abuse, harassment, neglect, or exploitation.

1. Purpose of the Policy

This policy details the safeguarding frameworks and reporting mechanisms implemented by Crystal Online School to:

  • Protect students aged 5 to 18 from harm during virtual tutoring lessons and related communications.
  • Set clear guidelines for tutors, support staff, and school leadership regarding code of conduct.
  • Ensure parent peace of mind concerning the vetting, monitoring, and quality of our teaching staff.

2. Staff Recruitment & Vetting Process

Every single educator at Crystal Online School goes through a strict selection framework before teaching classes:

  1. Identity & Qualification Verification: Validation of academic credentials, degrees, and teaching certifications (PGCE/state certificates).
  2. Background Checks: Satisfactory completion of criminal records checks. This includes a DBS Check (UK), FBI/State Police Clearance (US), or a Criminal Record Check (Canada).
  3. Reference Checks: Minimum of two professional academic references from verified educational institutions.

3. Code of Conduct in the Online Classroom

All virtual classes are structured to ensure accountability and safety:

  • Session Recording: All live virtual classrooms are recorded for child safety, quality audit, and lesson review. Parents may request access to recordings of their child's classes.
  • Communication Limits: Tutors are strictly prohibited from contacting students outside the official virtual classroom interface or school email. Communication via personal WhatsApp, social media, or phone is strictly forbidden.
  • Environment: Tutors must conduct lessons from a professional, quiet workspace with a neutral background. Proper attire is mandatory at all times.

4. Reporting Suspected Concerns

If a student, parent, tutor, or staff member suspects child protection concerns, it must be reported immediately to our designated team:

All reports are treated with the highest confidentiality, investigated with urgency, and escalated to local protective services (MASH in the UK, Child Protective Services in the US, or child welfare agencies in Canada) as required by international legislation.
